Ladies and germs, especially those of you not registered, this message is for YOU. I see an average of 5 guest users logged in at nearly any hour I check. Most of these are search engine spiders. Some of these are people who don't want to or don't feel they have to register.

Effective immediately, to conserve bandwidth I will be restricting guest access.

Currently, guests are unable to view the archives, board news, WAC Market or the Spam Board.

They will be further restricted, and will ONLY have access to read the Chibicon section of the board, and the Club Discussion section of the board.

Registered users will see no change to their access.

This is your cue to register, lurkers. You don't have to have a WAC membership and you don't even have to post. All you need to give us is a username, your e-mail address, and your first name. You also have to prove you're not a bot by answering my simple turing test question. And if you don't want to give us your real e-mail address feel free to use http://www.spamgourmet.com/ to create a disposable e-mail account. I think I've sent out maybe 3 "all user" messages since the most recent incarnation of the WAC boards. I suggest "WACLurkerXXXX" as a default username, just put 4 random digits instead of the X's, checkmark the "remember me" box on the right, shazam.

There is no reason for you NOT to register - it's free, it's quick, it's easy. Unless you are a search engine spider, which is the exact reason why this is being done, and I'm going to be taking further steps to conserve bandwidth for spiders. Known spiders will be forced to use an "ultra lite" skin, for example.

And if you think you should be an anonymous lurker who doesn't have to register, by March I will have created a new board skin for guests only, which will have advertisements on the left side of the page, right side of the page, basically I'm gonna have ads on all sides of the boards. No popups though, I hate those.
